I'd say he's overrated. I'll leave the appreciation angle to the Oil fans.

I want to believe in him, but he seems to almost let in a soft one every game. Hoping for a solid performance this year.

Some time between now and November 1st. I assume around the halfway mark (so October 15th).

he put up decent numbers in a not so decent defensive environment last season, hopefully things improve around him and he will be better(defensively)

kinda the same situation as TB

offensive weapons with decent goaltending capable of winning games, but a poor defense , not nessesarily defensive players, but system

with a new coach(just like TB) a new system, and a full trainingcamp/pre-season to implement a system that involves better D, the goalies will be rewarded

I have a feeling those of you waiting for dubnyk to come out as a good starting goaltender, itll be this year, that shot was a lucky bounce off the stick, even to hit the stick ewas lucky...but to end up in the net out of all directions it could've gone after it hit the stick is beyond lucky lol

Ask yourself; does that one softy per game REALLY invalidate the other 20-30 (sometimes 40) other saves he makes in a game? How many times has that one softy ACTUALLY cost the team the game? How many times has he stopped a "sure goal" in spectacular fashion?

Sure he'll have the occasional bad game (see San Jose and Nashville last year), but I counted around twice as many spectacular, game-saving performances (Columbus, Colorado, LA, Vancouver, and arguably Minnesota). I'd say you ought to reconsider the method in which you weigh your positives versus your negatives.

He's giving me a tough decision in a keeper league.

Not gonna lie, was at that game the first thing that crossed my mind when that innocent looking puck went in off Dubey was "Are you (frank)ing kidding me?" followed by "Well, there's the poopty goal he's going to let in tonight."

This is his last year to prove he's a starter. If he (frank)s this up, lets go sign Bryz, or some other under-appreciated yet proven NHL goalie.

If Yakupov is still available (assuming a regular snake draft), I'd take him. If it's an "office league", who are the other players available in his group?

I was very skeptical about this blog from reading the title...and then after 5 lines in I had to stop.

There it was...only five lines in...the description of Dubnyk's "one soft goal per game". Not only that, but it's a preseason game. I, and probably many others, am tired of Dubnyk's lackadaisical ho-hum attitude...which usually leads to a lack of concentration....which usually leads to a soft goal. This team is not good enough to allow "one soft goal per game".

He's not a #1. We need to find one of those eventually.

Gotta keep 3 players from our roster last season...Stamkos & Giroux are my first 2 and my 3rd is between RNH (13), Saad (Undrafted) and Marcus Johansson (Undrafted) ..I lose the round they were last drafted in ...I kept RNH last season and was a major disappointment and with missing games to start the season is making it tough

What you are forgetting is that the Oilers haven't been a very competitive team for many years and they have been very streaky. Win or Lose (or Lose...or Lose), most games have been more than one goal decisions. When the team gets more competitive hopefully this year, they will have many more one goal games, even some NO GOAL games. Those are the times when a goaltender who doesn't keep his concentration and allows a "softie" will kill you.

Dubey is not our guy.

You're wrong.

He was better than more than half the starting goalies in the league behind one of the worst defences in the leagues.

Numbers dont lie.

One softie, ahead of multiple great ones and a very solid game

This is about as silly a post, as having Jean Claude Van Damme as your avatar is.

I hear your hate, but I need to give Dubey this last year to prove himself... for the first time in years, our D isn't completely terrible. Let's see how he does with a not terrible D for a year?

Everything else in your post is right... numbers totally lie

Edit: I mispoke. Stats are like bikinis, they show alot, just not what you really want to see.
